Hobbs Heirloom Fusible Cotton Blend 80/20 Wadding

Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 Fusible Cotton/Poly Blend Batting is a double-sided, iron-on batting. This product eliminates the need for the time-consuming pin- or spray-basting step and enables you to create your quilt ‘sandwich’ in no time at all!  The fusing medium is water-soluble, so this batting becomes soft and supple once the finished quilt has been washed.

To fuse the Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 Fusible Cotton/Poly Blend Batting to your fabric.

•  Set your DRY iron to the appropriate temperature for your fabric and press each quilt area, working from the centre of the project to the outer edges – you mustn’t move the iron. You’re pressing, NOT ironing!.
• It’s also essential that you use a dry iron, no steam – the fusing medium is water-soluble, and if you get this batting wet, it won’t stick!
• Press in each spot for approximately 5-7 seconds test for adhesion by letting a pressed area cool before tugging on the fabric).
• Should you find wrinkles or creases, you can gently lift the fabric away from the batting, then smooth it back down and press it in place – you can make these adjustments 1-2 times before the fusing medium will no longer adhere the batting to the fabric.
• Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 Fusible Cotton/Poly Blend Batting is recommended for use with medium or dark fabrics. If you’re using white or light-coloured fabrics, we suggest you test this batting with your chosen fabric to ensure it won’t ‘dull’ your fabrics.

This batting is fantastic to quilt by machine, and close quilting will yield a flat, low-loft appearance, while more space between stitching/quilting will yield a slightly higher loft.

Quilting/stitching should be every 4″ or closer, and quilters may experience shrinkage of 3-5% if the finished project is laundered.
